Missing everyone!

Families and Students of Room 31~
I hope this email finds you all well. I am reaching out to let you know I am here to answer any questions or point you in the right direction for answers is you should need them.

You and your children have been on my mind – daily!  I wake up every morning wishing I was with them, yet know if we all do our part and follow the social distancing guidelines, we will be seeing each other in the future.

I know you have been receiving emails from Dr. Sawyer these past few days.  If you have not received it, you will be receiving and email from Amy Clouter - Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction with some learning "options / opportunities" for the students.  I know I will be checking in each day via email as we work through ways of providing continued “optional” learning opportunities for our students.  Nothing sent will be graded as it is optional.  We are not trying to replicate traditional school at this time.  Most importantly, we as teachers, are trying to maintain a positive connection with the students.

I will be checking my email frequently during the day, and will get back to you as soon as I can.  In the future, I may even try sending a few learning opportunities via SEESAW or some other platform.  Truly, this is new for me.... for all of us.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, comments or suggestions.  Wishing you some positive family time together.  I know I’ll be doing LOTS reading and walking  - weather permitting!

Warmly,

Kelly Finneran

Shout Out / Spring Fling Donations

Families of Room 31 ~

Just a quick shout out to our students.  This morning, from 9:15 - 11:15, they worked diligently on their MOCK / PRACTICE ELA MCAS.  We were SO PROUD of their effort.  Walking around the room, it warmed our hearts to see the thoughtful planning they put into their essays.  Although they did not complete all of the multiple choice and writing, it truly gave ehm an understanding of the stamina and effort they need to put forth in the near future.  Fingers crossed it goes this well when we take the actual MCAS on April 8th and 9th.

Also... thanks for those whom have already sent in their $5.00 or slime / squishy items.  For those whom have not sent this in, the deadline is March 18th.  This donations goes a long way in helping to create baskets to raffle at out upcoming ice cream social on March 27th.  The profits from this and other fundraisers help in costs towards items such as the buses for our upcoming field trip in May and the recent author visit (Victoria J Coe), whom we had the privilege of spending time with last week.

Lastly, the next school store is Friday March 13th.  Please make sure the students have sent in any completed Reading / Math slips necessary.   They need to hand in 5 of each by the end of April.

Warmly,
Miss Finneran & Mrs. Mount
